U.S. Pauses Iran Strikes, President Trump Visits Michigan, Early Voting Underway

The United States has paused strikes against Iran for a third consecutive night as diplomatic efforts continue in hopes of preventing a return to all-out war.

Top military officials have reportedly advised President Donald Trump to halt the bombing campaign for now. The president is considering his diplomatic and military options as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to visit the White House Tuesday.

President Trump in Michigan Today

President Trump is scheduled to visit Michigan today, where he will speak at the General Motors Milford Proving Ground in Milford.

The White House previously described the appearance as an event focused on the economy, while the Michigan Republican Party referred to it as a rally.

The Milford facility is used by General Motors to test new vehicles and emerging automotive technologies.

Early Voting Underway in Michigan

Michigan voters have started casting ballots in person ahead of the August primary election. The statewide early voting period began Saturday and continues through Sunday, August 2.

Election officials are advising voters who still have absentee ballots not to rely on the mail with Election Day approaching. Instead, officials recommend delivering completed ballots in person due to concerns about slower mail service.

Absentee ballots must be received by local clerks no later than 8 p.m. on August 4 to be counted.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel has also launched an election protection webpage with information about Michigan voting laws, election deadlines, and answers to common voting questions. The information is available through the state's Michigan.gov website.
